CSEAG TRAINS BASIC SCHOOL PUPILS IN BONO REGION ON CYBERSECURITY, ONLINE SAFETY AND ANTI-BULLYING

The Cyber Security Expert Association Ghana (CSEAG) has rolled out a capacity-building campaign aimed at educating basic school pupils on cybersecurity, child online protection, and cyberbullying. The outreach, held on Sunday, July 10, at Ridge Experimental C Basic School in Sunyani in the Bono Region, formed part of the Association's nationwide child online safety drive, which seeks to equip young learners with the knowledge and tools to navigate the digital space safely and responsibly. Hundreds of pupils, dressed in their school uniforms, gathered under a shed and a large tree within the school compound for the session, which combined interactive presentations with open discussions on the risks children face online. The programme was led by CSEAG member Joshua Kwadwo Kyere, who took the pupils through the basics of cybersecurity, how to identify and avoid online predators, the dangers of sharing personal information with strangers online, and practical steps for reporting and responding to cyberbullying. He also fielded questions from pupils eager to learn more about staying safe on the internet and on social media platforms they use. The training is the latest in a series of school engagements by CSEAG, which has intensified efforts this year to reach basic and secondary schools across the country with age-appropriate digital literacy and online safety education, as cases of cyberbullying, online grooming, and exposure to harmful content among children continue to rise nationwide. Speaking on the essence of the campaign, organisers noted that early education remains one of the most effective tools in protecting children in an increasingly connected world, and reaffirmed CSEAG's commitment to extending the initiative to more schools across the country's regions.
